This is my Story

I went into business for myself full time 3 years ago. I left my corporate job and started a  Neuro Linguistic Programming (short NLP) Coaching and Training Company. I did a number of things, I worked with corporate executives on their leadership skills, and I worked with private clients on anything from overcoming depression to choosing a new career and I ran NLP Certification training. Lots of different things, loved the variety but there was just lots and lots of work. I did very well for myself in my first year, I made a 6 figure income right off the bat, that’s more than I had made working my corporate job. But I worked a lot more hours and by the end of that first year in business I was exhausted. I did everything myself, I thought of my business 24 hours a day and worked 6 to 7 days a week. Every 2 months or so I would rock up at my mentor’s office completely overwhelmed and in tears not knowing how to go on. It wasn’t fun I can tell you. I felt really burned out.

So then I thought this isn’t what I went into business for, I decided to take the foot of the pedal the next year and my income went straight down. So now I started stressing about not having enough money. I got worried that I wouldn’t be able to have the sort of lifestyle I wanted running this business and I started looking for alternative ways to make money and educated myself about running a business. I spent more than $50,000 all up and about 18 months or so gaining knowledge finding a way to make the sort of money I wanted but found nothing that really fulfilled me on a soul level.  I really wanted to run a business that was meaningful for me and my clients, make me money I wanted and allow me the time freedom I had always dreamed of. I wanted to spend time with my husband and ride my horse whenever I feel like it.

So after doing a lot of research, travelling overseas and doing a number of workshops I finally found mentors I could relate to and the business model that really worked for my business. I have since completely restructured my business, raised my prices significantly to reflect the true value of what I am offering. The moment I did that, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders and I could breathe, it is so empowering to just go and name my higher fees and stricter payment terms,

I have found a clear niche in helping other service professionals who went through similar things I went through to fulfill their dreams.

It just became so obvious that that was what I was supposed to do, more and more people asked me about how I attracted clients, how I did so well financially, how I structured my marketing and so on. I realized that there were some things I had already been very good at from the start, like selling my services, structuring packages and dealing with mindset issues. And now I have a whole system that shows people how I run my business generating a 6 figure income while having the lifestyle I want for myself. Because that’s what I have now, I go riding 5 days a week, I spend time with my husband, I work from home making a solid 6 figure income with a clear pathway now to take that way further. And that’s really exciting, I just love it!
